Following a fierce battle, the five Bumon finally brought the war to a close, “sealing” the Demonic General in Ohka by means of a mysterious “Key”. With the war thus ended, all believed that peace would reign eternal….

Ys Seven (イース7) is a Japanese Action RPG developed and published by the Nihon Falcom Corporation and the seventh installment in the Ys video game series. It was released in Japan during 2009 for the Sony PlayStation Portable and was released by XSEED Games in North America on August 17, 2010 and in Europe (only on PlayStation Network) on December 29, 2010.  The game was developed by in Nihon Falcom Corporation which is also responsible of titles like Brandish: The Dark Revenant and The Legend of Heroes series.

Story:

Adol is now 23 years old, 6 years have passed since his last adventure. Along with his friend Dogi he finally gets a chance to visit Altago, a place he always wanted to go to because of its historic ruins, ancient races, dangerous beats and the intriguing five great dragons. The kingdom of Altago however is rebuilding after years of terrible wars against the army of Romn.
Adol and Dogi arrive to Altago’s City Harbor and find a girl being harassed by one of the commanding officers of the kingdom’s military police, the Dragon Knights. They try to save her and that lead to a scuffle with the police and to their arrest for espionage. The king of Altago releases them and summons them to his chambers. He tells Adol and Dogi  about a shrine discovered after an earthquake and asks them to investigate this new and mysterious discovery.  They accept the task and that’s their first step to a long journey to save all the inhabitants of Altago and the city itself from ancient dark forces and to reunite the five tribes who protect the Five Great Dragons deified beings who are the last hope for the world. Ys Seven is the latest installment in the Ys series which fist debuted on PC in 1987. This is the first Ys series game to be built specifically for the PSP system and the widescreen format is full advantage. Battles take place on the field map and consists in a 3-members party fighting with enemies in real time for a fast-paced combat.

Brandish: The Dark Revenant published by Falcom (YS/The legend of heroes) is a remake of the original Brandish overhead action RPG that was first released for the NEC PC-9801 in 1991 and later ported to the Super Nintendo in 1994.

Story:

Once upon a time, there is a small kingdom called Vitoal. Legend has it that with the protection of the dragons, the kingdom prospered. However, due to the king’s ambitions, the land ended up being cursed by what has previously given it protection and has sunk into the ground overnight.
As time goes by, a new country Vanoult is built on top of where Vitoal has been. Upon entering the kingdom’s vicinity, the bounty hunter (and hunted) Ares encountered the mage Dora Drone who has set her eyes on his head. During the fight, Dora’s magic opened up the ground and the two fell through. To escape from the cursed city, the two have to climb the tower to the top while slaying monsters.
